What I’m working on right now

A few months ago I blogged about what I was working on, both in my professional life and the things I do outside of work. This is where I’m at in September 2026:

  • I recently did a talk about AI for itSMF, which has led to some good engagement and a few YouTube views. All of the tools I showcased are in heavy development, but it was a good snapshot of a particular point in time that I hope people found useful.
  • My lunchtime/evening AI project has been developing a tool to search through the hundreds of markdown files I’ve written over the last few years, to make tracking down particular information or pieces of writing a lot easier. It’s early days, but I have something that’s functional enough for my immediate needs, and it’s helped me find a few things I had totally forgotten I had written.
  • I recently ran the first attempt at a simulation exercise to introduce the concept of cross-functional teams. This involved putting people in teams with people they didn’t usually work with, and asking them to collaborate on tasks far removed from their days jobs, using skills they very rarely got to bring to work. I think it went well, and we will definitely do it again soon.
  • I’m working on some really interesting things professionally right now, including some change management and operating model work, more work with our Agile community of Practice, and a lot of the standard Service Management operations work that happens all year round but often spikes at the start of the new academic year.
  • I’ve not travelled since August, but will be heading to the Isle of Wight for a short break in October, and then to Milton Keynes for ITSM26 in November.
