It looks like lock down will be ending

It looks like lock down will be ending for us at the end of the month, although I will still be working from home for another few weeks after that. I’m still very much thinking that I don’t ever want to go back to the way things were, and will very much be pushing for a day or two a week where I can work flexibly wherever I happen to be at the time (probably home, but I think travelling and working should be possible).

Pubs have been open for a week now, and I have been in no way tempted to go to one. I have also only been to one shop in the last few weeks and still only really leave the house to walk the dog or go cycling. Eventually this needs to change, but as I leave the house at least once a day anyway then I don’t feel too anxious about having to build commuting into my daily routine (although public transport still fills me with dread). Commuting is actually one of the main things I’ve missed, although I suspect if I don’t start commuting again until late September then the rain and the dark nights will soon make it feel like a chore again.

I’ve got into some good habits these last few months that I don’t want to lose. I’ve started baking bread, largely given up eating food that I have not cooked, and have eaten a proper lunch every day. These are habits I want to take with me to whatever new world we end up in, and I think that once I’m commuting again my health and fitness should get even better. I know I have some work to do to become comfortable with social interaction again, but I think on the whole I’ve gained more than I’ve lost.
