Things I use that are non/standard:
- FeeddlerRSS for feed reading.
- Serverauditor for SSH connections to my computers. It works well with Debian, Ubuntu and Raspian, and supports multiple connections. It also plays nicely when paired with a bluetooth keyboard for longer terminal sessions.
- RD Client (from Microsoft) for remote desktop to Windows/Linux computers.
- LimeChat for IRC (although if I’m at home I’ll just SSH to a Raspberry Pi running irssi).
- Byword for writing and editing markdown (I’m writing this post in Byword).
- Trello (of course)
- Workflow for getting apps to talk to each other and automate things
I also have a few apps for watching TV and films.
- VLC
- iPlayer
- Amazon Video
- DS Video (for streaming from my NAS)
- ToView (freeview TV)
- ITV Hub
- Netflix
- TV Anywhere (for accessing paid Virgin Media channels remotely)
I find that I can do most things I need to do on my iPad, as long as I’ve got my bluetooth keyboard and stylus with me. With these peripherals I find that the iPad itself stays out of my way and allows me to be productive. I don’t need them to consume media, but I do need them to create it.
